The Divide Is Wider Than We Thought (David)

We knew our country's divide was quite deep, with people on each side not listening to the other side.  But driving down US Highway 285 from Santa Fe to Carlsbad, NM, we learned in Vaughn, New Mexico just wide the divide has become -- about 300 feet wide -- with one side pointing an accusatory finger at the other side, and the other side simply not understanding what the first side is talking about.  And with neither side showing any interest -- or ability -- to move from its inflexible position.  The installation, called Cowboy Ruckus is by the artist John Cerney.  I took this photo as we drove by, but you can see a much better image by going to the website: http://www.johncerneymurals.com/projects.html.
