Here are some final shots of Luang Prabang. It was a full day with some good opportunities to take pictures capped by an unbelievable chance to test my camera on maximum shutter speed. We saw one rather cosmopolitan young local:20130206-213844.jpgAs well as some young novices just being boys:20130206-214125.jpgWe shipped 11 kg of winter clothes and whatnot back home via slow boat:20130206-214358.jpgAnd last, but certainly not least, we got to hang around a very serious game of rattan ball. It's a sport that's played by two teams of 3 incredibly agile and energetic young men who were able to achieve moves that totally defy both gravity and the capabilities of normal human bodies. It looks like a cross between kick boxing, hackysack, volleyball, badminton and soccer. Heads and feet only are used to bash a light weight woven rattan ball back and forth over a net, with a lot money changing hands with each point. We were exhausted just watching it.20130206-214840.jpg20130206-214758.jpg20130206-214851.jpg20130206-214902.jpg20130206-214911.jpg20130206-214926.jpgTomorrow we fly to Bangkok and then to Mumbai, where we switch from the international terminal to the domestic one for our flight to Cochi (or Cochin or Kochi depending on your spelling preference). We've heard that getting to and then experiencing the domestic terminal in Mumbai is right down there with a visit to the seventh circle of hell. We get to experience it from 4am to 1:30pm when our flight is scheduled to depart for Cochi. But, this being India, anything can, and probably will happen. Stay tuned for updates.
