Durian - what doesn't kill you makes you strong
Hope you can read this sign that was in the Bangkok airport. It warns people who want to take durian on a flight to check with the authorities before doing so. I certainly would not want to sit next to someone carrying the fruit. It emanates an odor so appalling that people look for the closest exit. I once stood next to someone eating it. We were in a boat and the wind was blowing the smell in the other direction. So I figured: How could I pass up the experience? Truly awful. I understand once you get past the smell the taste is good. As far as I'm concerned the pain isn't worth the pleasure.
